You could easily call it the most popular wine in Houston. Davis Family’s incredible Cabernet catapulted to fame after winning over palates and votes a couple of years ago at the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo to be named the Grand Champion – the highest rated wine in the competition.

A trip to the California Wine Country would not be complete without a stop at one of the most spectacular wineries anywhere. In fact, any time my husband and I go to Napa, Domain Carneros is always our first stop.
Plan on spending some time at this beautiful Sonoma winery. The grounds are spectacular—you’ll want to walk through their lush gardens. Be sure to look for the ‘cork’ tree…you’ll see up close and personal where those precious little wine stoppers come from.
The tasting room here is spacious with a great offering of gift items.
Whether heading into Napa or Sonoma, Domaine Carneros is the perfect first stop on your wine adventure. The beautiful majestic setting is the perfect spot to pop open a bottle of their delightful bubbly and celebrate your good fortune to be in wine country.

Sounds crazy… insane even unbelievable, but a Sonoma winery offers a wonderful wine tasting and your dog is invited for its own tasting. Not to worry, none of your luscious cabernet will be in your dog’s bowl, but something even better will be.

Wow – what view this winery has! Pride Mountain Vineyards sits on 235 acres high atop Spring Mountain with an incredible view of Mount St. Helena. Plus, the vineyard sits on the Napa/Sonoma county line, so you can literally be in Napa and Sonoma at the same time.
In the heart of Napa right on the famous Highway 29 sits a gem of a winery…Salvestrin Winery. On a recent stay in Napa, we stayed at the Salvestrin Winery’s B&B—what a treat!
This is one of the beautiful vineyards high up on Spring Mountain, and it’s family owned and operated (ya gotta love that).
The Trinchero family moved to Napa in the 1940’s and Trinchero Estates is now one of the largest wine producing entities in all of Napa.
Silver Oak’s talented winemaker Daniel Baron counts some 16 years as producing the big cabernet sauvignon that so many have come to know and love.
Set in the hills of the beautiful Bennett Valley in Sonoma is a charmingly elegant winery producing some wonderful wines.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Napa at the legendary winery that bears his name, you’d be raising a glass in his honor this afternoon. His wife Margrit will be at the winery to toast her husband with a glass of Fume Blanc.
I’ve got a fun road trip for you today. It’s one of Texas oldest wineries in the beautiful Hill Country near Lake Buchanan. Check out Fall Creek Vineyards…it’s about 20 minutes north of Marble Falls. Ask to see their famous Louis Pasteur doors.
