Laissez les bons temps rouler–2016 is gonna be a great year! Just in case the remaining hours on New Year’s Eve are your last diet-free day for a while, why not finish big with a decadent brunch!
The fab H-E-B Cooking Connection folks were my go-to source for this Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich – ready in as little as 10 minutes. It features Cranberry Pork Sausage, traditional ham off the bone, two kinds of cheese (Provolone & Swiss), plus a delicious cran-raspberry sauce on 7-grain toast. Think of it as a hot ’n hearty breakfast panini, or better yet, a towering Texas Cubano equipped to feed the masses!
A nice sparkling to pair is the Anna Codorníu Brut Cava from Spain. A nice value for about $12!
Another top rated bubbly I like this season is the Albert Bichot Crémant. It’s dry (not sweet) and pairs with practically anything; a Double-Gold Medal winner at the Houston Rodeo.
Several fun spots in H-town have kicked in contributions as well. The Breakfast Klub in Midtown shared the recipe to their signature Wings & Waffles. Sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with sliced strawberries…savor the flavor!
Chances are you won’t be able to have just one of these heavenly Chocolate Éclairs from the Houstonian’s pastry chef, Catherine Rodriguez. They’re filled with pastry cream, dipped in a chocolate glaze and decorated with Valrhona chocolate pearls and mini vanilla marshmallows. You can watch Chef demonstrate her technique on Goodtaste.tv.
Robard’s Steakhouse in The Woodlands does a Candied Bacon French Toast that should be illegal it’s so good! Finished with crumbled Gorgonzola and a bourbon cherry sauce.
Brennan’s New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp would also make for a fabulous brunch ‘for a bunch’ idea this time of year. Chef Danny Trace plates his signature version with goat cheese stone ground grits in true Creole fashion.
Happy New Year everyone! For more delicious recipes and fun food and wine pairing ideas, subscribe to my newsletter.

Please tell me where the recipe for the Shrimp recipe shown in the top picture above “the best darn brunch on NYE” is? It looks awesome but there is no recipe for this Shrimp dish. It looks to be on top of mashed potatoes. The recipe for Barbecue Shrimp is not the recipe for the Shrimp dish shown in the picture.
Please reply…..I would like to make this for NYE.
Thank you so much! Love your recipes.

Janice, my apologies that we haven’t responded sooner to your email. I am working to source the recipe. The recipe for the Brennan’s dish is here http://goodtaste.wpengine.com/recipes/showrecipe/display/brennans-of-houston-new-orleans-barbecue-shrimp but I don’t think that’s the one you’re asking for. I THINK the dish you’re referencing is here http://goodtaste.wpengine.com/recipes/showrecipe/display/havens-wild-texas-shrimp-cheese-grits
