Football just might be the distraction we need right now. The return of the NFL this week is a welcome reprieve from the weather channel — thats’ for sure! Grab a bud and tune in to America’s Game with a handful of our favorite tailgate eats from spots around Texas. Don’t worry, we’ve got plenty to wet your whistle as well. 😉 Ready…BREAK!
The gang from The Peached Tortilla in Austin gave us their fixing for BBQ Brisket Tacos [above]! Slow-cooked, southern dry rubbed brisket accompanied by a creamy homemade apple slaw, together drizzled with PT’s Smoky Roasted Peach BBQ Sauce. Just the right amount of zing!
Allow Chef Steve McHugh to ‘cure’ any game day hunger pains with his exquisite Sweet and Spicy Cabrito Sliders partnered with pickled cucumber from Cured. Cabrito is roasted goat meat; a saucy serving of protein spooned on a small slider bun and topped with house prepared pickles:
Fetch a few cloves of Chef Stephen Paprocki’s Texas Black Gold Garlic and lock down an entire 6-pack of Alamo Golden Ale for these Beer Smoked Turkey Legs tamed in a wood smoker using cherry, maple and alder wood chips. They taste like Texas — and the garlic you’ll only find here!
A Cocktail You Can’t Beat…
With a name like “Ribs and Whiskey” what’s not to love?! A really cool cocktail from Pitmaster Garrett Stephens at The County Line made with bourbon, a blood orange puree, chocolate bitters and simple syrup.
