When it comes to party recipes, everyone has ‘that dish’ they always put out for their guests. We’re looking to the pros for their ultimate party recipes — some of which you may have enjoyed in their restaurants.
Get ready for lots of fun this Fiesta — at the party and in the kitchen!
Also, two more things: We have the recipe to Ninfa’s Green Sauce & Jacala’s Jacalitos! Scroll to get the ‘scoop’ 🙂

Savor the flavors of the sea with these new Tacos de Salmon from Chef Johnny Hernandez’ new restaurant, Villa Rica Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio. Make them with fresh guacamole, lime cabbage slaw and pico de gallo.
Asparagus & Manchego Tartlets
- From Goya Foods’ Executive Chef Fernando Desa
Bring these buttery puff pastry cups filled with fresh mushrooms, asparagus, Serrano ham and ooey-gooey melted cheese and you’ll be everyone’s favorite guest! This recipe for Asparagus and Manchego Tartlets from our friend Executive Chef Fernando Desa at Goya Foods is one you can throw together in under an hour with minimal prep.
Barbacoa Benedict
- From South Texas-based Lupe Tortilla
How about getting the party started early with Barbacoa Benedict? Pick up your favorite brisket or make one in your slow-cooker ahead of time and prepare the rest of your ingredients while your guests sip a spiked coffee, mimosa or Spicy Milagro Paloma.
Jacalitos
- From Lucille Hooker at Jacala Mexican Restaurant
This recipe is ‘puro San Antonio’! The three sisters at Jacala Mexican Restaurant shared this recipe with us for Fiesta! We’re longtime fans of their puffy tacos and Chile Relleno, but the Jacalitos have been bringing folks back to Jacala since 1949.
Ceviche Veracruzano
- From Chef Johnny Hernandez at Villa Rica Mexican Seafood

Here’s another amazingly fresh and sophisticated shareable plate from Chef Johnny Hernandez: Ceviche Veracruzano. It’s made with Leche de Tigre and Red Snapper and so refreshing when served with a white wine. Speaking of, try these easy-drinking wines for lighter meals from H-E-B.
Ninfa’s Famous Green Sauce
- From Executive Chef Alex Padilla at Ninfa’s on Navigation

No trip to Ninfa’s on Navigation in Houston is complete without a healthy snacking of tortilla chips and her Famous Green Sauce. This recipe is perfect for all of our homesick Texans who won’t be able to make Fiesta this year, but are still looking for a taste of home!
And don’t forget, you can always celebrate with chefs in person this fiesta! Details on the Taste of the Republic here. Looking for more recipes? Find our full-on Fiesta Meal Planner right here.
