This weekend on Goodtaste with Tanji, we’re slicing into thick prime steaks, heading to a charming college town café for a home-cooked bone-in pork chop, and digging into sticky-sweet cinnamon rolls. To tease your palate a little more, here are 3 things not to miss in this week’s new episode of Goodtaste with Tanji Season 4.

Swings and Steaks

On one fortuitous visit to Old San Francisco Steakhouse in San Antonio, Bill Been was astounded by the two twin grand pianos and the girl on the swing (something the steakhouse is well-known for). Been, who was pre-med at Texas Tech at the time, decided to change his major and get into restaurants. Now the owner of Myron’s Prime Steakhouse, Been has been working in the restaurant industry since 1977 – starting with his first job at, you guessed it, Old San Francisco Steakhouse.

Vintage Dishes
Some would say Chef Yale Elliott of Café J is a walking encyclopedia of recipes for all the Lubbock restaurants. He has worked in many of them and knows a lot of their menus and recipes front and back. Putting that knowledge to good use, he created “Throwback Thursdays”, a night to celebrate Lubbock’s past with specials inspired by his favorite dishes from around town. Not just that, but Tanji and Chef Yale have a very close connection. Find out what that is this weekend on Goodtaste with Tanji.

From Boardroom to Baker
Ginger Blazek, owner of Zenzero Kitchen, left her 25-year career as an executive recruiter to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a baker. As a child, she used to watch her grandfather cook for their big Italian family. She loved how his food not only fed the family, but it brought them together. Playing on her Italian roots, she named her restaurant Zenzero, or “Ginger” in Italian. Another nod to her heritage? The restaurant’s espresso machine is straight from Florence, Italy.
Tune in this weekend for delicious food and MORE during the ALL NEW episode of Goodtaste with Tanji.
