Paella lovers unite! You know Spring is just around the corner, when it’s time for the annual Paella Challenge at Pearl Brewery. Things heated up quickly as chefs from all around the globe descended upon the Alamo City for a fabulous feast and a little friendly competition…
It was an exquisite afternoon of food, fresh sangria and live entertainment not to be missed. This colorful culinary event saw yet another sellout crowd of 2,000+ come to see who could craft the tastiest paella of them all.
Many of the pros present added their own personal touches to traditional Valencian paella; outlandish yet DELICIOUS variations to the usual array of rice, seafood and chorizo with some intoxicating aromas!
Sysco Foods’ FreshPoint has been a lead sponsor every year, and once again provided the giant pantry of produce that equips the chefs with just about everything they need for their mouthwatering mixtures.
Locally celebrated chef Johnny Hernandez, the founder of the event, says that rain or shine the turnout (and enthusiasm) for this event is always amazing.
From the contemporary – to the just plain creative – it’s practically a given that no one leaves this paella party hungry!
