Fall is upon us! While we might not be reaching for our hats and fuzzy socks quite yet, I say bring on those cold-weather wines! From our friends at H-E-B, here are our picks for the must-try fall bottles.
First, we have a Schloss Vollrads Riesling Volratz which hails from Germany. Many think of Riesling as a sweet, fruity wine, but this one is actually quite dry. It’s also very food friendly; it pairs well with roasted root vegetables like parsnips and sweet potatoes.
For reds, this first pick is from Spain and is a Garnatxa Negra from Herència Altés. The clay, chalk and sands naturally found in Catalonia, where the grapes grow, adds depth to the wine. On the nose, you get hints of violet, under-ripened strawberries and raspberry. It’s bright flavor pairs well with food and is very versatile.
If you’re looking for something bolder, try this Cabernet Sauvignon from Catena in Argentina. The high altitude helps concentrate the flavors of the wine. This bottle has notes of violet, oak and spicy cinnamon. Pair it with cozy fall stews and roasted meats.
As always, you can find all of these picks at your local H-E-B and get 10% off your wine purchase when you buy six or more bottles. Cheers!
