Make way for Middle Sister. Introducing wines dedicated to the smooth-talking muse in the middle; the sibling who always seems to have a sociable personality and steals the show! These offbeat wines from California are a cheeky combination of class and sass, inspired by the middle sister in all of us…
The reason for our visit to Burgundy was to explore the highly acclaimed villages of the regions to become familiar with the many French wine appellations. For a region that only produces two varietals, chardonnay and pinot noir, the selection is extensive and the flavor profiles of the many AOC’s are so different.
This particular meeting was a real treat for me. I first met Sommelier Rajat Parr at RN74 in San Francisco — one of my very favorite restaurants anywhere. His book, Secrets of the Sommeliers, is an excellent guide for anyone with an interest in wine, no matter your experience level or familiarity.
Boerne Wine Company is a fabulous wine boutique (and humidor!) with more fun finds and rare wines — wines by the taste, half glass or full — than you’ll be able to try anywhere else. Their state-of-the-art Enomatic Wine Dispenser allows you to taste some fancy names for cheap in comparison. There aren’t many places that you don’t have to commit to buying a pricey bottle in advance. Your taste test awaits!
Here’s to the perfect pairing Wine Dinner, featuring special guest Rajat Parr on Tuesday, October 22 at Francesca’s at Sunset. I have no doubt this will be an incredible evening! I am a huge fan of Sommelier Rajat Parr who runs the wine program for all of Chef Michael Mina’s restaurants. RN74 in San Francisco is one of my favorite spots…
Anything you taste, you can take home from the Boerne Wine Co. Champagnes of all kinds — by the glass — and it’s the only place you’ll find a collection this vast.

Fall is a beautiful time to explore California wine country. We recently spent some time in the Mendocino area – if you’ve already done Napa and Sonoma, head a bit north to Mendocino. The cooler climate produces some wonderful Pinot Noirs and Gerwerstraminer wines.
